Volunteer Action Pass (VAP) Launch Event

Our first VAP learners at the launch event

We were very excited to hold an event to launch our brand new VolunteerActionPass, or VAP, in April at Derby QUAD!

The VolunteerActionPass is a comprehensive package of training, designed to provide people with the opportunity to build their skill set and gain the experience and confidence to be able to volunteer in all types of voluntary organisations and roles. The training is completely free, and comprises of a set of 6 modules, including Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and First Aid, to be completed over 6 weeks.

Groups, organisations and interested partners came along to the launch to find out more about the training and meet some of our very first VAP graduates. There was even a delicious cake gifted by the Community Champion at ASDA Spondon!

Kate Richardson, Volunteer Development and Training Lead at Community Action Derby said:

"It's brilliant that we're now able to offer this training to the people of Derby, to help them into voluntary roles, employment, or to empower them and build their confidence.

We're already working with partners such as Disability Direct, Red Cross and Derby College and our aim is to build on that and offer additional modules and bespoke training packages. We hope that VAP will become a quality mark for volunteering."

Marsha Blackshaw, a volunteer who has completed the training said:

"The VAP training has given me skills and confidence, I'd definitely recommend it to others, it's really good!"

Another VAP graduate, Sinead Nation, said:

"The training was very good, especially being able to do it in a group so we could exchange ideas and help each other. I think the programme should be part of every organisation's volunteer induction."

Dates for the next round of training will be released soon!
