What is Volunteer Centre Derby?

As Derby's accredited Volunteer Centre, we support both volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations across the city.

Volunteer Centres have five core functions:

1. Strategic development of volunteering
   As Derby's volunteering experts, we work with partners across Derbyshire to influence volunteering strategy and support the future development of volunteering locally and nationally.

2. Development of good practice
   We help organisations involve volunteers safely and effectively through guidance, training and the promotion of good practice.

3. Brokerage
   Our primary function is to match people and groups who want to volunteer with organisations that need their time, skills and experience.

4. Developing volunteering opportunities
   We work with organisations to identify where new volunteer opportunities are needed and support them to develop meaningful roles. We also encourage and inspire more people to get involved in volunteering across Derby.

5. Voice of Volunteering
   We listen to volunteers and organisations across the local area to understand the opportunities and challenges they face. We use these insights to influence policy, improve practice and champion volunteering.
