Free Community Health and Wellbeing Event in Derby
Local residents aged 18 and over are invited to attend a free health and wellbeing event at Langdale Heights Residential and Nursing Home in Derby on Saturday 24 October 2026.
The event aims to promote preventative healthcare, raise awareness of dementia, encourage healthy ageing and support healthier lifestyles within the local community. Taking place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the event will offer a range of free health checks, practical advice and information to help people take positive steps towards improving their health and wellbeing.
Visitors will have access to a variety of free health and wellbeing services, including:
- Free Health Checks: Blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight and BMI measurements, with cardiovascular risk assessments where appropriate.
- Dementia Information and Support: Practical guidance and information for individuals, families and carers affected by dementia.
- Healthy Ageing and Falls Prevention: Advice on maintaining mobility and independence, improving nutrition and hydration, and reducing the risk of falls.
- Health and Lifestyle Guidance: Information and practical tips to help people make healthier lifestyle choices and improve their overall wellbeing.
The event provides an opportunity for local people to access useful health information, learn more about preventative care and discover ways to maintain their health and independence as they age. The initiative also aims to strengthen community connections across Derby by raising awareness of important health issues and making health and wellbeing information more accessible to local residents.
Visitors are welcome to drop in at any time during the event. No advance booking is necessary.
Important health and safety information: As the event is being held within a residential and nursing home, anyone experiencing symptoms of illness, including coughs, colds, fever, sickness or diarrhoea, is kindly asked not to attend. This will help protect the health and wellbeing of the home's vulnerable residents.
