Derby Community Fridge Saves 1.4 Tonnes of Local Produce from waste and Launches ‘Share The Harvest’ Appeal
Thrivemind Village CIC — a volunteer-led community hub in the city centre — has reached an exciting milestone, saving and sharing more than 1.4 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables through its Community Fridge this summer.
The food, generously donated by Derby’s allotment holders and home growers, has supported local families, older residents and anyone facing food insecurity — while preventing high-quality produce going to waste.
As the seasons change, Thrivemind is launching its Share The Harvest appeal to invite more growers, community gardens, and independent grocers to get involved and help feed our Derby community through the festive season of goodwill.
Small or occasional donations are welcome, and the team can collect produce using volunteer drivers and an e-cargo bike.
