CA Derby AGM Event 2025: Celebrating 50 Years of Community Action in Derby’s Vibrant Voluntary Sector

Last month, we were delighted to welcome members, partners, volunteers and community organisations to our 2025 AGM.

This year’s event was particularly special, as we also celebrated 50 years of Community Action Derby. It was a wonderful opportunity not only to reflect on the year’s achievements, but also to recognise five decades of supporting, championing and working alongside Derby’s voluntary and community sector.

A highlight of the morning was the performance by the fabulous Poss+Abilities Dance Group. Their energy and enthusiasm brought a fantastic atmosphere to the room and added a joyful, celebratory note to the event.

We were also joined by special guest Dr Amo Raju OBE DL, who shared an insightful reflection on his time working in Derby’s voluntary sector and the role Community Action Derby played in supporting that journey.

During the AGM, we shared an overview of our activity and achievements from the past year, including the distribution of an incredible £1,731,376 through 275 grants to 138 different groups and organisations!

The event also featured a vibrant Voluntary Sector Marketplace, showcasing the incredible range of groups making a difference across the city. The room was full of energy, conversation and new connections - a fitting way to mark such an important milestone for our organisation.

The AGM served as both a reflection and a point of renewal. As we look forward, our commitment remains the same as it has been since the very beginning: to support and champion Derby’s voluntary sector and help our communities thrive.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the event. Your energy, support and partnership are what make 50 years of community action possible, and what will carry us forward into the years ahead. We’re excited to continue building on this legacy as we enter our next chapter!
