Derby Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) Annual Report 2024/25
The Derby Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) aims to provide support for families in Derby by providing free activities and meals during the Easter, summer and winter school holidays.
What does HAF offer?
Children, who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals, will be able to:
- access enriching activities that they may not otherwise be able to attend
- enjoy learning new skills
- meet friends and socialise, reducing social isolation during school holidays
- have a healthy and nutritious meal – preferably hot
- take part in physical and creative activities
- build greater knowledge of health and nutrition
- access culturally specific/sympathetic provision.
Derby City Council wanted to get to the heart of the communities it serves with the Derby HAF programme. To do this, they partnered with us at Community Action. We want our HAF to reach everyone - every community, every ward, every eligible child and who better to do this than our local groups who are based in the heart of their communities!
