Free Advise Service at St James Centre
St James Centre's friendly Advice Service team can help people apply for a grant through the Crisis and Resilience Fund, where appropriate, or provide advice about other benefits and available support.
St James Centre is encouraging anyone experiencing a crisis and financial hardship to get in touch with its Advice Service for free support.
The Crisis and Resilience Fund, managed and delivered by Derby City Council, may be able to help people with an annual income of under £25,000 who are facing an unexpected financial shock. You do not need to be receiving benefits to qualify.
Examples of situations where support may be available include:
- Not having enough money for food, gas or electricity.
- Being at immediate risk of homelessness.
- A sudden loss of income.
- An emergency situation, such as a fire, illness or family breakdown.
- Delays in receiving benefits.
Depending on individual circumstances, support may include food or fuel assistance, emergency energy top-ups, essential household items and housing support to help prevent homelessness.
St James Centre's friendly Advice Service team can help people apply for a grant through the Crisis and Resilience Fund, where appropriate, or provide advice about other benefits and available support.
The team speaks English and a range of European and Asian languages, helping people access advice in a language they feel comfortable with.
The service is completely free.
