Derby Poverty Commission invites you to join them at the Derby Child Poverty Summit to combat alarming child poverty statistics and work together for a brighter future.

The purpose of the Derby Child Poverty Summit is to unite leaders, stakeholders, and residents in a concerted effort to address the pressing and spiralling issue of child poverty in Derby City.

The summit will raise awareness about the escalating rates of child poverty, whilst fostering a shared commitment to instigating an anti-child poverty movement, and collaborative initiatives. The summit will also seek to map, promote, and reveal, positive proactive work already taking place across the city, encouraging the sharing of good practice.

Through the event, the summit will strive to contribute to the development of a resilient and supportive environment for children in Derby, ultimately working towards the goal where every child in the city can exist and thrive without the burden of poverty.

Aims:

  • To instigate the creation of an anti-(child) poverty strategy in Derby
  • To raise awareness of the recent reports documenting the alarming rise in Child Poverty
  • To generate short-term ideas which help mitigate child poverty in key areas
  • To map and share good practices and projects already established across the city
  • To mandate action via pledges
  • To gain a shared ownership and commitment to tackle child poverty in Derby
