Darley Abbey Scout Hall Seeks Regular Booker to Save Hall

Darley Abbey Scout Hall has lost a regular daytime booker and in order to save the hall, they are seeking a group/organisation looking to book the whole of the week, although several groups booking one or more days could work. They are unable to accomodate hourly slots due to capacity of the volunteers.

Current availability is for all weekdays, from 8am to 4pm - hire rate £20k pa - yearly increase in line with inflation (average of CPI and RPI for the latest month statistics are available).

An earlier start would not incur any additional rental charge.

A later finish to 17.45 would be acceptable, following certain terms.

Please click here for more information, including photos of the Hall.

Low-Cost and Free Paint for Families, Schools and Community Groups

The Derby Community RePaint scheme, which is managed by the Play and Recycling Centre (PARC), was created to help community groups and people who are on low incomes, or in receipt of benefits, by providing affordable and usable leftover paint from commercial and trade sources.

It’s just £3 to register with the scheme and gain access to free and low-cost paint to decorate your home or premises.

Every litre of paint you obtain from this scheme would otherwise go to landfill, so whatever colour you choose it's green!

For more information about the scheme and to register, visit the PARC website

Free painting, renovating, or clearing available for community groups / centres

Workpays is an education training provider that is looking for any community groups/centres or organisations that could do with some painting, renovating, or clearing.

They have students that need some work experience and some learners have just completed their construction qualification. If there is painting to be done they ask that the group purchase the materials and the students will provide the free labour. The students are flexible with availability, depending on what the work is and could offer days or a number of weeks.

If you are interested, contact Kooner Singh, Operations Manager. Call 07964 396781 or email kooner@workpays.co.uk. For more info about Workpays, visit their website.

If you would like to discuss how you could possibly work together, please contact George Jones, Wilder Communities Officer via email at: gjones@derbyshirewildlifetrust.co.uk
