Freelance Community Facilitator: Try The Train
Try The Train (TTT) is a confidence-building rail programme delivered by Community Rail Lancashire and funded by Northern. The programme supports pre-existing community groups (aged 14+) to become confident, independent rail users through structured workshops and supported train journeys.
Each facilitator will deliver:
- 3 structured workshops
- 2 supported train journeys
- With 2 participant groups
- Total of 10 delivery days
- Between May – October 2026
Groups are pre-existing and accompanied by staff. Delivery takes place in community venues and on the rail network.
Fee & Support:
- £200 per day (£2,000 total for full delivery)
- 2 paid shadowing/training days
- A Northern group rail pass for delivery days
Looking For Practitioners With Experience In:
- Working with community and/or disability groups
- Supporting people facing barriers to travel, confidence or access
- Delivering structured, confidence-building workshops
- Working safely and professionally in public settings
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver inclusive workshops that build rail confidence and independence
- Support participants safely during train journeys
- Adapt delivery to meet diverse access needs
- Gather basic participant feedback
- Uphold safeguarding, equality and professional standards
