Spotlight on: Sight Support Derbyshire
This week’s Spotlight On features Sight Support Derbyshire!
Sight Support Derbyshire provides a range of services and support for local adults living with a visual impairment.
Sight is the sense people fear losing the most, and coming to terms with sight loss can be challenging. Sight Support Derbyshire is there to provide advice, information and support. They do as much as possible to make the most of existing sight by using talking clocks and kitchen aids in the home. They also provide white cane training for independence during social and leisure activities, befriending support to help with loneliness and activities for children and young people to help with self-esteem.
Sight Support Derbyshire said, "The money raised from the Derby Community Lottery will help us continue providing a range of support including our befriending project, which matches trained volunteers with older visually impaired people who are feeling lonely and isolated."
