Spotlight on: me&dee charity
This week’s Spotlight On features me&dee charity!
me&dee, founded in 2006, supports families where a parent or child suffers from a life-limiting or life-shortening illness. They create memory-making experiences and a programme of continuing care.
Their memory-making experiences include days out to local attractions and opportunities to create keepsakes and gifts. One gift me&dee has created is Hope the Elephant, which has zippable ears that are used to keep mementoes, voice recorders and even ashes of lost loved ones. Hope has been used for siblings communicating through long hospital stays, and for parents to record snoring, laughs and last words to their loved and lost little ones.
As part of me&dee's continuing care programme, they facilitate a calendar full of activities for families that may have limited time together, or require additional financial assistance to enjoy their time together. This includes a monthly private swimming lesson at Moorways Sports Village.
me&dee also provides local hospitals with toys toiletries and comfort packs for their wards.
The funds from Derby Community Lottery will be directly reinvested into the continuing care programme, specifically the swimming pool hire at Moorways. Each ticket bought for the Derby Community Lottery will help to make a difference, ensuring the swimming sessions keep running and maybe even happen more frequently!
If you would like to support me&dee charity, buy tickets and nominate them as your good cause here!
