I Want to Volunteer
The Derby Covid Community Response Hub - a group of organisations working in partnership and comprising of Community Action Derby, Derby City Council, Derby Homes, the University of Derby, local NHS, Thrive Derby and linking into Derby Covid 19 Mutual Aid Facebook group - have been coordinating help and support for people who live alone or who are self-isolating with partners or relatives during the Covid-19 crisis.
We have been matching up potential volunteers with those people most affected by the current crisis since it began in late March. We encourage potential volunteers to be good neighbours and focus on people who need support, however big or small, in their immediate local neighbourhood. This may involve helping people with shopping, prescriptions and other small tasks and by volunteering in the local neighbourhood reduces the risk of the spread of infection to other areas of the city.
What else can I do?
As lockdown restrictions are eased Volunteer Centre Derby is working to review what volunteering opportunities are available in the city, below are a few options.
MHA Derby Live at Home Scheme
The scheme is recruiting volunteers to help provide the Telephone Befriending Service across Derby, supporting older people in the community during this difficult time. The service is proving to be very popular and aims to reduce loneliness and isolation ensuring people continue to feel part of the community.
To volunteer for this much needed service with the Derby Live at Home Scheme please

A Stitch From Me to You
This is a new group of over 900 sewers who are making headbands, wash bags, face masks and more for NHS staff, care home staff and other key workers.
The group needs people who can sew, together with people who can drive to deliver the items around Derby. Take a look at the following links:
StayWell Derby Volunteer
