Spotlight On: Sight Support Derbyshire

Our new 'Spotlight On' feature highlights the work of the fabulous local groups and organisations that we support. Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on the good causes that have signed up to benefit from our new Derby Community Lottery, to let you know more about their great work and how the money raised will support them!

This week’s Spotlight On features Sight Support Derbyshire!

Sight is the sense people fear losing the most and coming to terms with sight loss can be challenging. Sight Support Derbyshire is there to provide advice, information and support. They do as much as possible to make the most of existing sight by using talking clocks and kitchen aids in the home. They also provide white cane training for independence during social and leisure activities, befriending support to help with loneliness and activities for children and young people to help with self-esteem.

Sight Support Derbyshire said, "The money raised from the Derby Community Lottery will help us continue providing a range of support including our befriending project, which matches trained volunteers with older visually impaired people who are feeling lonely and isolated."
