Thank you to all the Volunteer Managers, Leaders and Coordinators who attended our latest Volunteer Co-ordinator’s Forum on 31 July!

The forum is a great opportunity to come together to support each other, discuss volunteering issues and ideas, network and share experiences.

A big thank you to the guest speakers who gave engaging and informative presentations on volunteer leadership and support and exciting things happening in Derby.

Dave Thomas, Nottingham CVS's Volunteering Development Officer, shared his experiences from over 40 years of volunteer leadership and development. Dave touched on how volunteering is based on engaging with each other and making connections and friendships along the way.

Hope from Derby Museums shared a fascinating case study about effective volunteer management. Volunteers at the museum were provided with comprehensive additional training to ensure they're as respectful as possible around Derby Museum’s new exhibition - Displaced: From the Nile to the Derwent. Hope informed us that the Egyptian collection at Derby Museum has been in their care for over 100 years!

Nosheen from DE23 Active / Community One spoke about her experience of recruiting volunteers and how it can be beneficial to be volunteer-led, regarding where and how people would like to volunteer, in comparison to a perhaps more prescriptive traditional approach.

We hope you all enjoyed the event and are looking forward to welcoming you back soon!
