"Jericho Derby is currently undergoing a significant transition. After more than 40 years of dedicated service through the Jericho Society, providing essential support to some of the most vulnerable individuals across the UK, we are now in the process of winding down our operations under the current structure.
But this is not the end—it’s a new beginning. We are determined to ensure the life-changing services we provide in Derby not only continue but expand to meet the growing demand for addiction recovery and support.
The Path Ahead
We are working tirelessly to finalize plans for a seamless transition. This includes ongoing collaboration with Derby City Council, the Charity Commission, and other key authorities. To safeguard the vital services we deliver, we have also set up a new Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) as a contingency plan, allowing us to ensure continuity even in the face of tight deadlines.
In addition to this, we are actively looking to expand our provision and secure a larger primary premises. As demand continues to rise, our current facilities are operating at full capacity, and we are committed to creating additional spaces to serve more individuals in need.
We are also meeting with potential partners, stakeholders, and supporters who share our passion for helping people with addiction and related issues. These discussions aim to build a robust foundation for our work, ensuring we can continue to deliver outstanding outcomes for years to come.
Why This Matters
Every day, we support over 30 people facing complex challenges such as addiction, trauma, homelessness, and mental health issues. Beyond temporary solutions, we are dedicated to fostering long-term, sustainable recovery. Here’s what we offer:
- Crisis Support: Helping those in immediate danger of relapse or harm.
- Practical Assistance: Guiding individuals through processes like securing housing, benefits, or employment.
- Emotional Support: Providing encouragement, a listening ear, and a safe space for growth.
- Addiction Recovery: Delivering peer-led, structured recovery programs for lasting success.
- Family Reconnection: Supporting loved ones to rebuild relationships strained by addiction.
- Aftercare: Offering personalized, ongoing support to help people not only recover but thrive.
One of the most essential aspects of our work—aftercare and ongoing support—remains unfunded. Yet, this kind of care often makes the difference between relapse and lifelong transformation.
How You Can Help
As we navigate this transitional period, we’re calling on partners, stakeholders, and anyone keen to support people facing addiction and related challenges to join us in ensuring these services continue uninterrupted and grow to meet increasing demand. Your support can help us:
