Derby-based community entrepreneur awarded up to £10k and learning programme place to improve local community wellbeing
Jamie Gratton, Founder and Director of Staywell Derby CIC in Derby, is one of 54 community leaders across England selected for a competitive learning programme and grant of up to £10,000.
The Community Business Trade Up Programme is run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, in partnership with Power to Change and supports people to improve their local communities through trade.
The programme will help Jamie to grow Staywell Derby CIC, a lived experience-led community interest company.
Staywell Derby CICs vision is to support and build the emotional resilience of the residents of Derby city and the surrounding area and support and build community wellbeing.
Staywell Derby actively looks to promote inclusion and tackle stigma offering a range of support and services around addiction, domestic abuse, trauma, homelessness and mental health.
The organisation uses personal lived experience combined with tools such as smart recovery principals, CHIME to THRIVE and creativity to help others begin and maintain their own recovery journey in a proactive way.
Put simply they just want the people of Derby to Staywell.
Jamie will soon begin a nine-month learning programme at the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE). SSE helps people develop the skills, strengths and networks they need to tackle society’s biggest problems.
Jamie says: “I am delighted to have been accepted onto the Community Business Trade Up Programme, run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, in partnership with Power to Change. The programme and grant of up to £10,000 will help me grow Staywell Derby CIC, so I can support more people in Derby".
