St James Centre – based in Normanton, Derby – are looking for Trustees to oversee the work they do. They support over 160 disabled people, have a multi-lingual advice service, have over 60 staff members and their own community building. They have a turnover of over £750,000 and are a very lively organisation, always overcoming challenges and moving forward with new ideas!
St James Centre need people with life experience and common sense, with a passion for helping those who are disadvantaged and disabled. They are particularly looking for women, people from ethnic minorities and disabled people, as the current Board of Trustees does not reflect the diversity of the people they serve or the staff team. This is a volunteer position but reasonable expenses will be met.
The commitment is to attend six board meetings a year and to read the relevant papers beforehand. Currently, board meetings are online due to COVID. St James Centre will be going back to face to face when this becomes possible. There are opportunities to support the work of St James in other ways according to the interest of the individual.
If you are interested in being a trustee for St James Centre please contact their CEO, Janet Tristam.
