The Workers Education Association (WEA) is one of the partners in Derby city delivering the ESOL for Integration project. This is for adults newly arrived to Derby city, refugees or any adult over 19 with pre-entry level or elements of Entry Level 1 English skills. The aim is to facilitate participants’ social integration in Derby through improved language skills, so participants can become more active and engaged in community settings and events. The project runs until 31/3/21 and is FREE to all participants. It is funded by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government which is different to ESFA funding. Therefore participants can attend alongside their ESFA funded ESOL classes.
The classes will be face to face, with the possibility of some online learning and will be in Covid 19 secure centres. One venue will be WEA, The Mill, Lodge Lane Derby and the other venue will be The Bosnian Herzegovina Community Centre in Derby. Class sizes will be a maximum of 12 students.
