Date and Time: 24 September, 10am to 4pm
Location: Community Action Derby
This is a full-day session for voluntary and community groups operating in Derby City only. It is aimed at new or relatively inexperienced voluntary sector fundraisers, or those wanting to refresh or develop their knowledge and skills, including those for whom fundraising is only a small part of their role.
Part 1 - Understanding funders and funding sources
Part 2 - Making a compelling case
At the end of the session, participants will:
- Have learnt about different types of funding, the pros and cons, and what’s involved in securing them.
- Understand funding relationships and what motivates different kinds of funders
- Understand the importance of a strategic approach to fundraising, and what this involves
- Know how to articulate clearly why they need funding and make a compelling case for support
While a lot of this session will also be relevant to social enterprises, be aware that some of the law around fundraising for CICs differs from charities and community groups.
