One of our programmes, the Derby Health Inequalities Partnership (DHIP) was nominated for the 2024 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards and we are delighted to announce that we are a finalist!
DHIP is a co-led, joint initiative between Derby City Council (Public Health) and Community Action Derby, working together with community organisations and leaders to help achieve better health outcomes in the city.
The HSJ Awards shine a light on the outstanding efforts and achievements that teams across the health and social care sector have delivered.
DHIP is a finalist for the NHS Race Equality Award, which recognises initiatives that either identify and tackle ethnic health inequalities for patients and communities; or promote race equality and inclusion within the workplace.
We were nominated for the highly successful hypertension project that we delivered in partnership with the NHS - 'Going further and faster in the detection of Hypertension by increasing blood pressure checks in at-risk and deprived communities'.
The project was a community-led drive to tackle high blood pressure, where we trained up DHIP Community Connector volunteers to take blood pressure readings out in the community. You can find out more about the project on the DHIP website. BBC East Midlands also visited us to film a piece on the project - you can read about that here.
Update: The award ceremony was held on 21 November 2024. Unfortunately, we didn't win, but we did get a certificate as a congratulations for our success in achieving a place as a finalist, which you can see below!
