Research and recent consultations have revealed that carers, especially from diverse communities and other underrepresented groups, face significant barriers in accessing support.
We have been funded by the Accelerating Reform Fund to identify and address the needs of underserved carers in Derby City. The primary goal of this project is to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by carers in these communities who are currently not accessing existing support services.
We are offering grants of up to £2k to local community organisations and groups that have experience of working with carers, to carry out focused workshops between July and September 2025 with the aim of engaging with carers who face barriers in accessing support due to the following protected characteristics:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender resignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual Orientation.
The findings of the workshops will help us to develop and implement support options that are appropriate and responsive to the needs of Derby’s underserved carers.
This grant is for groups and organisations engaging with carers who are caring for adult carers.
The deadline for applications is Friday 30 May 2025
