Invitation to submit views concerning Derby City Council’s Proposal to Introduce Flexible Tenancies for some Council–owned Homes.

Derby City Council is asking for your views on the proposal to introduce flexible tenancies (also called fixed term tenancies) for certain types of social housing owned by the City Council. The proposal is to introduce flexible tenancies for new tenancies of social housing, owned by the City Council, which are in short supply or high demand. These consist of:-

  • Properties with four bedrooms or more
  • Properties that have significant adaptations for a disabled occupant (defined as ‘homes which have undergone structural alterations or extension in order to accommodate the needs of a disabled person’).

Applying flexible tenancies to these homes would help to ease the pressure on demand for social housing and allow more people in housing need to benefit from larger or adapted properties when they need them most.

The council would be interested to hear your views on this proposal. Please let them know your views by taking part in the survey on the Let’s Talk Derby consultation page by midnight Wednesday 14 September 2022.
