Brilliant Derby - shine a light on your organisation!

2020 was a year that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, but as we see the light at the end of the tunnel it’s time to get ready to come back stronger in 2021 and beyond! And to guide us along the way we have BRILLIANT DERBY to shine a positive light out of the darkness. Brilliant Derby is a wellbeing revolution that raises the bar from mental health to mental wealth and most importantly it is fun!

A mental health workout

The Brilliant Derby project aims to make a stand against the rising tide of mental ill-health and to introduce a series of simple principles to help people take charge of their own wellbeing. Brilliant Derby doesn't seek to replace the superb mental health work already being undertaken – it complements it. Brilliant Derby is aimed at the majority of people who have been ground down by recent events – the 75% who have muddled through and want to regain a spring in their step.

Brilliant Derby is rolling out a series of wellbeing webinars, delivering simple, do-able activities and ideas that enable people to come back stronger. In the same way that we might go to the gym to improve our physical fitness, this is the mental health equivalent. The initiative launched on Blue Monday - 18 January 2021 - with six webinars that introduce some basic principles of human flourishing, enabling people to build their resilience and raise their levels of wellbeing. The wellbeing programmes are evidence-based but deliberately designed to be non-academic and totally accessible for all ages.

This is the exciting bit!

Brilliant Derby is all about wellbeing in the community and being inclusive and accessible for all, and is looking for community members and organisations who would like to get involved. So if you, or your organisation, run wellbeing programmes in the city and you'd like to get involved with Brilliant Derby get in touch!

This is a great way to promote the work you do in the community via short videos demonstrating what you do, talking about what you do or holding a mini workshop online. Don't worry the tech side is all taken care of - we'd just like to hear from you and we'll take it from there. We're not looking for professional, polished acts - we're looking for real people with real stories to share and inspire.
