Finding a job can be frustrating. You go to a job website and type in something like “shop work”. You are met with a long list of results, with no way of knowing which role might be right for you.
Likewise, creating a CV can be a struggle. Which font are you supposed to use? Should you list all of your qualifications? And what about writing a personal statement or a cover letter?
Or maybe you’re not at that stage yet. Maybe you lack the confidence to use computers to search for jobs online and to create a CV. After all, using a computer can make people who don’t have much experience with them anxious. Will you click on the wrong thing? What if I delete something? Is it safe to upload a CV online? It can be very stressful.
But don’t worry. Achieve Your Potential can help.
Achieve Your Potential – or just AYP for short – is a job club here at Community Action Derby. AYP began in February and will run until the end of November. AYP’s aims? To help you get into work or into volunteering while trying to improve your IT skills and wellbeing.
And the beauty of AYP is that you get to decide what your goals are. Do you just want to get into volunteering and to improve your IT skills? No problem. We’ll help you search for the right role and get you registered onto Learn My Way, a digital course that aims to help people develop basic computer skills.
