Step Up Beat Hate is an initiative to raise awareness of hate crime. 

A group of young people in Derby have taken part in a project and organised an event to raise awareness of hate crime. 

SUBH will be holding a 1 mile walk around Markeaton Park in Derby to ‘Step Up, Beat Hate!’ followed by fun sports and activities. 

Date and time:

Friday 31 August 10:30am to 2pm - the walk around the park will take place at 11am.

FREE Refreshments will be available!

Are you going to Step Up?

A Hate Crime or Incident is any behavior that someone thinks is motivated by hostility or prejudice against: 

  • Ethnicity
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity
  • Religion/beliefs
  • Disability
  • Membership of a subculture
  • Age

 Examples of Hate Crime/Incidents include:

  • Shouting names at  someone 
  • Causing  damage to someone's belongings
  • Throwing  objects at someone
  • Hitting someone
  • Being unkind to someone online
  • Bullying someone
