Celebrating Diversity in Derby

The Development of the Equality Alliance

Dear colleague

Community Action Derby is proud to have such a diverse membership - multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-faith, a rich LGBT+ community, empowering women’s groups and inspirational disability organisations - what better reason to celebrate?

We’re holding our AGM on 10 October - from 10:30am to 1pm - at QUAD in the Market Place in Derby and as part of the morning we will be launching a plan to develop an Equality Alliance for the city in partnership with Disability Direct. The Equality Alliance will aim to bring together key voluntary sector representatives and stakeholders to create a space to discuss issues such as the increase in hate crime and the importance and roles of community champions. It is hoped that collectively we can pledge to work together to make communities safe for everyone.

We would like to invite you to come along and take part in our AGM and event - there will be stands from organisations to ‘Celebrate Diversity in Derby’ showcasing their work through activities, photographs, artwork, leaflets, creative projects and other mediums. You’ll also have the opportunity to add your voice and ideas to the Equality Alliance and find out how you can be involved in the future.

We hope that you will join us to celebrate with organisations who contribute to the rich diversity of life in the city, those who bring a wealth of culture, history, art and spirituality and inspire people to explore and meet people and traditions that they may not ordinarily come into contact with.

Please RSVP by Thursday 3 October so that we can plan for refreshments.

We look forward to hearing from you.
