Date and Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-2pm, term time only

Location: Better Together Café, Council House, Corporation Street, Derby DE1 2FS

The Better Together Café is a new social enterprise café at the Council House, providing opportunities for those with learning disabilities to gain hands on training and skills needed to work in the catering & hospitality industry.

The cafe enables learners to gain knowledge and skills, to make delicious home-made food and serve the public. Learners carry out all the tasks needed to run a café including:

  • food preparation
  • serving customers
  • handling money
  • cleaning and managing food safety.

Learners can attend courses 1 day per week for up to 3 years, enabling them to fully develop and embed the skills they need for future employment.
