Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance
Food 4 Thought supports people in Derby who are experiencing food poverty, through food provision, signposting, education and advice.

NHS Healthy Start scheme - get help to buy food and milk
If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk. If you’re eligible, you can apply for an NHS Healthy Start card with money on it that you can use in some UK shops. The card gets topped up every four weeks.
You can use your card to buy:
- plain liquid cow’s milk
- fresh, frozen, and tinned fruit and vegetables
- fresh, dried, and tinned pulses
- infant formula milk based on cow’s milk.
You can also use your card to collect:
- Healthy Start vitamins – these support you during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- vitamin drops for babies and young children – these are suitable from birth to 4 years old.

Audrey’s Charity
Audrey’s Charity was setup to assist individuals and families experiencing financial hardship in the Derby area. The charity helps people to access food, furniture, clothing, electrical goods and white goods.

YMCA Community Meals
On the last Friday of each month, YMCA Derbyshire hosts a free Community Meal. The event offers the opportunity for individuals, families, community groups and businesses to come together, get to know one another and eat great food.
Each meal is run in partnership with Head High, a local mental health organisation, and is managed by a local business or charity.
Time: 12noon - 1.30pm

Derby Libraries
Derby Libraries have recommended books to provide useful information to help with rising costs. The books cover everything from how to manage your finances to cooking for your family on a budget. They include: On the money: take control of your finances to build a life you love, Feed your family for £20 a week, Cooking on a bootstrap: over 100 simple, budget recipes. Books are on display in Derby Libraries and borrowing is free with your library card. Food waste tips
Household food and drink waste costs the average family with children around £700 a year, or up to £60 a month. There’s a huge opportunity for us to cut what we spend by saving more of the food we buy.

Revive Centre Charity - The Pantry
Revive supports residents living in the Derwent, Chaddesden, Oakwood or Spondon areas of Derby.
- Revive’s Pantry has been established to help local residents by distributing new and unwanted goods, to residents on a reduced income (who usually are regular members of the Revive 'Job Club'). Revive generally has a variety of well known items including detergents, toiletries and cleaning products in its ‘regular’ pantry.
- The ‘Christmas’ pantry focusses on keeping the magic of Christmas alive by providing Christmas gifts to struggling families.
