PIRAMID

What is PIRAMID?

The PIRAMID project is a partnership between Derby City, Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Community Action Derby.  The project is designed to support older people to remain independent in their own homes through accessing support from within the local community and re-building their social networks.

It has been set up to offer support to older people who don't have the social contacts that they once had, are coming to terms with a bereavement, an experience of crime, or recent life changes.

The PIRAMID Project can also offer support with:

  • the role of carer;
  • introducing a volunteer to help service users access groups or activities in their local neighbourhoods;
  • information about community services; and
  • identifying services to meet ethnic and cultural needs.

PIRAMID pairs short term volunteers with service users to support them to re-engage with their own local communities and get involved with activities of interest to help re-build social networks, with the aim of helping the service users to increase their general well being.

If you feel this project could help you or someone you know, please contact the PIRAMID team on 01332 227720 or email ann.theobald@communityactionderby.org.uk
