New bid-writing service for VCS

02 April 2015

Community Action is delighted to announce the imminent launch of a new bid-writing service for the voluntary and community sector in the city. Derby City Council has been pivotal in taking this initial idea forward and is investing in the sector in what is a very challenging time for the authority and we are very grateful for their on-going support. This is an innovative and forward-thinking idea and we aim to create a sustainable bid-writing service for the sector in Derby.

The service will offer:

  • A low cost viable alternative to groups with limited resources that have considered or used private sector freelance writers.
  • A funding bid-writing service for groups with little or no experience in this area or signposting to support from our development team for advice prior to making a funding application.
  • To look over bids to give an honest appraisal as to whether there is a realistic chance of securing funding and suggesting improvements or support to maximise your opportunity to secure funding for your services.

Community Action is currently recruiting for two positions to deliver this new service - we are looking for experienced people who understand Derby's sector and local needs. Thanks to the support from DCC we will be able to offer the service on a paid by results basis which means that if you are not successful there will be no charge to your group or organisation.

We are recruiting for the following two positions:

Bid Coordinator PT - large bids

To generate income for the sector by identifying opportunities and professionally preparing and submitting applications for grant funding and contracts above £10,000.

Bid Writer PT - small groups support

To work with small voluntary sector groups in Derby and write bids up to £10,000, that will raise income from a variety of sources to support and extend the activities of the sector.
