Be a Community Stay Warm and Healthy Champion
Would you like to help people in your community to keep warm and healthy this winter?
We're looking for Community Warm and Healthy Champions to raise awareness of issues around cold damp homes, fuel poverty and home energy efficiency.
Champions will give talks to local groups and visit neighbours to help them improve the warmth and comfort of their homes as well as signpost people towards energy efficiency advice, grants and discount schemes - as well as other related Derby City services, such as benefits advice, home maintenance and health and social care support.
A Community Warm and Healthy Champion does not need to be an expert in energy efficiency, carbon reduction or renewable technologies. We're looking for people with an enthusiasm for saving energy who is willing to give some of their time and ideas for the benefit of their friends, neighbours and community.
We will offer appropriate training to small groups of volunteers to enable each Community Warm and Healthy Champion to learn more about home energy efficiency and to signpost and promote services that are available locally, such as free and discounted loft and cavity wall insulation, advice on switching tariffs, renewable energy, benefits advice, and so on.
Potential Community Warm and Healthy Champions are likely to already be involved with local groups or networks that can pass on information and advice as part of their normal community activities.
If you are interested in being a Champion come along to the FREE one day training course on Wednesday 8 February or Thursday 9 February at Community Action, 4 Charnwood Street, Derby.
