In addition to holding regular meetings of trustees and volunteers, the trustees of the Famous Trains model railway charity are working towards obtaining funding for the work to upgrade the building in Markeaton Park to be suitable for ppublic access. The building is opposite the main car park and adjacent to the storage building for the Park's light railway. The asbestos-cement roof must be replaced, and new electrics and exmergency exits are needed. We are hoping to raise £30,000 to cover this work, and this is in addition to the money promised by Derby City Council (which should cover the roof replacement). Our funding efforts are leading to an application for a lottery grant, and we have also set up a Building Fund so that local people and firms can contribute.
