Diwali lights on Normanton Road and Pear Tree Road, Derby will be switched on by the Mayor of Derby City, His Worshipfull, Sean Marshall on Friday 9th October 2009 from Hindu Temple Geeta Bhawan, Derby at 7.00 PM. After the switching on ceremony there will be a cultural programme till 8.00 PM. Hindu and Sikh communities will be celebrating Festival of Diwali on Saturday 17th October 2009. Hindu Community will celebrate their New Year that is 2066 on Sunday 18th October 2009.
