Jobseekers

The Flexible New Deal (FND) is a new approach to getting jobseekers back into work. Jobseekers who participate in FND will attend meetings with employment officers at Community Enterprise in order to draw up a flexible action plan which will account for a period of up to 52 weeks, known as the 'Customer Journey'.

Community Enterprise will determine interventions and activities that we consider will move the customer into paid employment in the shortest time achievable, and we will continue to support customers when they get a job. The Customer Journey will include periods of volunteering and also work-related activities.

With Community Enterprise the journey into work starts for jobseekers with a 'First Step Meeting" with an employment officer.  This is the meeting where we find about a customer's needs, including personal needs, basic skills and care commitments (such as childcare).

After this there will be a further meetings where a flexible action plan will be drawn up to address a customer's needs, such as interview skills and CV writing. Customers also take part in a four-week 'work boost' - a period of full-time work-related activity at one of our network of placement providers in the area.
